Business Plus Law Firm Survey 2026
In the Business Plus Commercial Law Firm Survey 2026, our Managing Partner, Michael Lavelle, reflects on the firm’s strong performance in the Irish market over the past year, highlighting key growth areas and emerging trends shaping client demand.
The commentary explores how the firm is strategically positioned to respond to these evolving needs and continue delivering best-in-class service. It also considers the growing compliance challenges facing businesses and underscores the increasing importance of robust corporate governance.
Activity
“2025 marked the year of our move to modern new premises at Bankside, overlooking the Grand Canal in Dublin. The move to purpose-built offices represents a significant milestone for the firm, providing space to expand and creating an inspiring environment for both clients and staff".
"We're continuing to grow exponentially in Commercial Litigation, Property and Commercial. Client demand remains centred on timely responsiveness, service delivery excellence and commercially focused, practical legal advice".
"Clients are seeking more advice on the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and employment law instructions are increasing, highlighting the importance of practical legal guidance in shaping decision-making for both employees and employers".
"Overall, we position ourselves as a firm capable of managing large-scale clients and complex matters, while remaining approachable and flexible enough to deliver a personalised, best-in-class service".
Compliance Challenges
"Compliance is increasing throughout Europe, although arguably reducing in the United States. Commercial clients are demonstrating greater compliance, despite the introduction of more regulations in certain areas such as employment and business more broadly. There are increasing international threats and evolving regulations in relation to exports and imports which clients must navigate".
Corporate Governance
"Clients have generally become more focused on corporate governance, with a view to ensuring that problems of the past are not repeated in the future. There is more acceptance of the need for corporate governance and company boards are more focused on directors with knowledge of compliance, to ensure that boards continue to operate effectively".
Notable Transactions
The firm’s Corporate & Commercial, Employment and Property teams advised on the acquisition of SuperValu in Greystones, Co. Wicklow by way of a share purchase of the operating company and a new sub-lease of the premises.
It also acted in a Mareva Injunction application, freezing substantial funds held in a brokerage account, and advised on a notable property construction dispute that concluded with a €7.5 million settlement.
Lateral Hires
Denise Dockery joined as a partner in 2026, enhancing the firm’s Property credentials across both commercial and residential real estate.
