Brief overview of my career:
I qualified as a solicitor 33 years ago and was the founding
partner of Lavelle in 1987. In that time I have enjoyed working with my team to
grow the firm to what it is today, with six partners and 40 employees.
Whilst I have vast experience in many areas in law, my day
to day emphasis is on commercial litigation, commercial law and insolvency and
my clients, with whom I have longstanding relationships include large and
medium sized companies, banks and other financial institutions, accountants and
other professional services companies.
There have been many memorable career highlights over the
last 30 odd years, but stand out moments for me include the time that we took
one of the largest actions against the State on behalf of a group which went
from the High Court to the European Court of Justice, Duff and ors. –v- The Minister for Agriculture
which is now the leading case on “legitimate expectation”.
Professional memberships & accreditations:
- The Law Society of Ireland
What I offer my clients :
I am know for no
nonsense, honest approach and that is something that I know my clients
appreciate. I appreciate that with the
rough, comes the smooth and I adapt quickly and professionally to all events.
Personal interests :
For the last 25 years, I
have been an ardent supporter of the Peter
McVerry Trust both professionally and personally.
My family keep me very
busy with their pastimes – it appears I have raised some rather successful (highly
competitive) hockey players, a wonderful singer/songwriter and a budding
engineer who between them keep my diary fairly full.
When we have time to ourselves, my Daire and I love to head to the West coast of Ireland and take in the breathtaking scenery and maybe a pint or two!!
