Brief overview of my career:
I qualified as a solicitor 33 years ago and was the founding partner of Lavelle in 1987. In that time I have enjoyed working with my team to grow the firm to what it is today, with six partners and 40 employees.
Whilst I have vast experience in many areas in law, my day to day emphasis is on commercial litigation, commercial law and insolvency and my clients, with whom I have longstanding relationships include large and medium sized companies, banks and other financial institutions, accountants and other professional services companies.
There have been many memorable career highlights over the last 30 odd years, but stand out moments for me include a number of significant commercial transactions, my involvement in landmark insolvency cases and acting for farmers in a case before the European Court of Justice and the Supreme Court which resulted in a significant award of damages in favour of our clients.
Professional memberships & accreditations:
- The Law Society of Ireland

What I offer my clients :
I am know for no nonsense, honest approach and that is something that I know my clients appreciate. I appreciate that with the rough, comes the smooth and I adapt quickly and professionally to all events.
Personal interests :
When I’m not at work I like to spend time with my wife and four children, and spend time outdoors. I’m involved in sport both as a participant and a supporter. I’m a regular cyclist and I follow rugby, soccer and gaelic. In recent years hockey has dominated our house and I’ve been lucky to attend events around the country and abroad.
I take part in the Wexford Cycle for the Peter McVerry Trust every year. I love the west of Ireland and cycle the Ring of Beara every year too. Hill-walking and walking trails, particularly in the west of Ireland, have become an enjoyable pastimes with both family and friends.
